Project Summary: The Acushnet Rubber Company Inc. was the first company in Massachusetts and the fifth in the U.S. to be recommended for ISO 14001 certification. Acushnet fine-tuned an existing Environmental Management System (EMS) plan to link environmental impacts and aspects with the operation controls at their facilities. The company concentrated on production-based pollution prevention and design for the environment. The Acushnet Rubber Company Inc. experienced unprecedented growth in sales and hiring, while posting outstanding pollution prevention results at their two New Bedford plants.
