Portland International Airport
The Portland International Airport is approximately 20 minutes from downtown. The MAX Red Line leaves from the airport to downtown Portland about every 15 minutes. Bus, light rail, shuttle, rental cars and taxi cabs are all available at the airport.
Train Stations
Vancouver and Portland both have train stations. Visit the Amtrak website to learn more about train schedules and stations. The Amtrak Cascades line runs four times daily both northbound and Southbound.
Ground Transportation Options
Once you've arrived in the Portland/Vancouver area, there are a number of transportation choices to get you around town:
- Public transit: Vancouver has a bus system, however they do not serve the Portland International Airport. Portland has light rail (MAX lines) streetcars and buses serving the downtown area. The bus and MAX lines are both free if you are riding them within the downtown "fareless zone". Details
- Cars: see rental info under "airport" heading above.
- Parking: Many hotels in Vancouver offer free parking. The Water Resources Education Center offers free parking to visitors. Parking in Portland is a bit more difficult. Many of the downtown hotels charge a fee for parking. Additionally, there are a number of SmartPark parking lots available throughout Portland that are reasonably priced.
