Withdrawal Speed
Description
- Remove part slowly from process tank, allowing the viscosity to hold more of the process water in the bath
Advantages
- Less contamination of rinse water, because more liquid is pulled off of parts when they are withdrawn more slowly from the bath
- Less process water is lost
Implementation Process
- Evaluate the process to determine an ideal withdrawal rate for a part
- Install equipment (ie: variable speed lifts), or manually adjust the withdrawal rate
- Typically, an automatic hoist that removes parts gradually will cause less dragout than when parts are removed manually
- Train and monitor employees – give incentives for superior performance
