Withdrawal Speed

Description

• Remove part slowly from process tank, allowing the viscosity to hold more of the process water in the bath

Advantages

• Less contamination of rinse water, because more liquid is pulled off of parts when they are withdrawn more slowly from the bath
• Less process water is lost

Implementation Process

• Evaluate the process to determine an ideal withdrawal rate for a part
• Install equipment (ie: variable speed lifts), or manually adjust the withdrawal rate
• Typically, an automatic hoist that removes parts gradually will cause less dragout than when parts are removed manually
• Train and monitor employees – give incentives for superior performance
