Liquid in Sumps
Description
- Sumps should always have less than ½ inch of liquid in them
Advantages
- reduces the risk of process chemicals leaking or leaching through the sump and contaminating the ground
- regular inspection of liquid level in sumps will draw attention to upstream processes that need improved management
Implementation Process
- determine why liquid is accumulating
- not adequate sloping
- evaluate upstream processes causing accumulation
- pump is required, or needs maintenance
- piping is not adequate or clogged
- solve the problem
