Reuse rinse water in process tank
Description
- Reuse the rinse water by transferring it in the heated process tank
- Never use rinse water from a cleaning process, such as an acid or alkaline etch, to make up the process bath because the rinse water will contaminate the bath
Advantages
- Decrease the amount of disposed rinse water
- Decrease the use of freshwater for process bath
- Retain chemicals necessary for the process
Implementation Process
- Reconfigure the pipes to provide this flow
- Determine the optimum temperature range for the bath
- Heat the tank at the upper end of the optimal operation range. Heating lowers the liquid’s viscosity, allowing for it to drip off more easily.
- Monitor the temperature
- Develop an updated ‘Standard Operating Procedure’
- Train and monitor employees – give incentives for superior performance
