Membrane Electrolysis

Description

  • Pass electrical current through electrolytes separated by an ion specific membrane, causing the ions to either:
    • pass through a selective membrane
    • become oxidized or reduced
  • Typically used for bath maintenance of chromic acid; mostly in hard chrome or chromic acid anodize
  • See also Electrodialysis

Advantages / Limitations

  • Maintains lower concentrations of metallic impuriites
