Heat Baths

Description

  • Heat baths

Advantages / Limitations

  • The viscosity and surface tension of most liquids decrease with increasing temperatures. Lowering the viscosity and surface tension will reduce the amount of liquid clinging to parts as they are removed from a bath.
  • Reducing drag-out will reduce process chemical loss.
  • Increased evaporation, will allow for counter flow into process bath from rinse tanks
  • May reduce process time, increasing productivity potential (?)
  • Increased energy cost

Implementation Process

  • determine what temperature ranges are acceptable for the process bath
  • investigate cost of heater / determine cost-effectiveness
  • install equipment
  • train employees so that they know how to properly operate the equipment
