Description
- Replace chromic acid anodizing with boric sulfuric acid anodizing
Advantages / Limitations
Chrome
- Corrosion resistance, and other beneficial surface properties
- Strictly regulated due to its toxicity and suspected carcinogenicity
Boric-sulfuric
- Produces coating properties that are very similar to those achieved with chromic acid
- Excellent corrosion resistance and paint adhesion
- Less effect on fatigue properties than sulfuric acid
- Reduces costs associated with emission control equipment and hazardous waste disposal
