Segregate Cyanide Solutions

Description

Segregate & treat solutions with cyanide in them separately
  • electrolytic cyanide destruction (oxidized cyanide to C and N)
  • ozonation
  • evaporation (high energy cost)

Advantages

  • Less complicated treatment required
  • Decrease the potential for toxic release of hydrogen cyanide (cause by mixing cyanide with an acid)

Implementation Process

  • Determine which of the cyanide containing baths are compatible with one another
  • Re-pipe these baths to a segregated location
  • Develop revised treatment strategies for both the cyanide and non-cyanide containing baths
