Segregate Cyanide Solutions
Description
Segregate & treat solutions with cyanide in them separately
- electrolytic cyanide destruction (oxidized cyanide to C and N)
- ozonation
- evaporation (high energy cost)
Advantages
- Less complicated treatment required
- Decrease the potential for toxic release of hydrogen cyanide (cause by mixing cyanide with an acid)
Implementation Process
- Determine which of the cyanide containing baths are compatible with one another
- Re-pipe these baths to a segregated location
- Develop revised treatment strategies for both the cyanide and non-cyanide containing baths
